Two skins can show about the same price on the upgrade screen and still have different resale prospects. On a skin upgrade, GudDrop shows the chance before you confirm, and a successful upgrade puts the target in your inventory. The displayed price tells you the target’s value on the upgrade screen. It does not tell you what the copy you receive may sell for or how quickly you could sell it.
Target Price Versus What You Can Realize
The amount you can get from a skin depends on where you sell it, what buyers are paying, the fees involved, the copy’s float and how long you are willing to wait. Check:
- Marketplace
- Fees
- Specific float
- Current buyer demand
- Existing listings
- Expected selling time
Prices move quickly, so the figures below are dated snapshots.
Marketplace: Steam’s Price Is Not a Cash Price
On September 30, 2026, SteamAnalyst showed a Field-Tested AK-47 | Ice Coaled at $5.49 on Steam and $3.88 on BUFF, and a Minimal Wear AK-47 | Head Shot at $61.22 on Steam and $47.62 on BUFF. The Steam figure is Wallet funds, and Valve’s Subscriber Agreement says Wallet funds have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash. The two prices are not equivalent valuations. Steam proceeds become Steam Wallet funds, while cash-market prices refer to money paid through a different marketplace with its own fees and withdrawal rules.
The Specific Float
Inside one wear, the float can move the price a lot. Current SteamAnalyst data for Factory New AK-47 | Head Shot shows a median CSFloat sale of $238 for copies below 0.01 float, compared with $84.30 for copies at 0.06 and above, roughly 2.8 times as much. On September 30, Field-Tested AK-47 | Aquamarine Revenge ranged from $32.73 to $38.24 across the tracked floats, about 1.2 times.
The Head Shot figures show how wide the float-based price spread can become within Factory New. That makes the exact copy relevant when two targets have similar headline prices.
Demand and Speed: Same Price, Different Exit
A September 30 snapshot of two Field-Tested targets priced within about 7% of each other gives a useful comparison. SteamAnalyst shows M4A1-S | Hyper Beast with a highest buyer offer of $109.63 and a cheapest listing of $113.17. It shows ★ Classic Knife | Blue Steel with $103.28 and $105.57.
| Metric | Hyper Beast (FT) | Classic Knife Blue Steel (FT) |
| Sales per day | About 8.5 | About 2.0 |
| Buy orders waiting | 18 | 9 |
| Median time to sale | 5.8 hours | 12 hours |
| Buyer-offer/listing gap | About 3% | About 2% |
Within SteamAnalyst’s tracked CSFloat data, the Hyper Beast shows about four times as many daily sales. That figure does not represent every marketplace, so it should be treated as a measure of tracked activity, not total market demand.
Existing Listings and the Spread
A narrow buyer-offer/listing gap does not necessarily mean a skin sells quickly. Sales volume and listing depth provide the other side of the picture. SteamAnalyst’s Field-Tested Head Shot page reports about 24 days of listings ahead, with 443 BUFF listings and 50 buy orders. A new seller is competing with that existing supply, even when the skin has regular sales.
The spread shows how far the immediate buyer offer sits below the cheapest listing. If you need to sell quickly, you can accept the highest buy order and take less than the current asking price. If you list at the lowest asking price, you may need to wait for a buyer to reach your listing. For Ice Coaled on September 30, csdb.gg put Steam’s highest buy order at $5.12 against a lowest listing of $5.52, a gap of about 7%.
Sales volume, listing depth and the spread give a clearer picture of how easily a target can be converted into money or another usable balance. A skin with frequent sales can still take time to sell if many listings are ahead of yours, while a narrow spread can reduce the difference between an immediate sale and the current asking price.
How to Compare Two Similar-Priced Targets
The price shown during a skin upgrade gives you the target’s listed value, but the copy you receive can have a different resale value depending on its float and the market you use. Before choosing between two similarly priced targets, check recent sales, buyer offers, listing depth and the spread between the best offer and cheapest listing. If you plan to keep the skin, inspect its float, appearance, pattern and stickers as well. These figures change, so compare the two targets on the day you play. GudDrop’s Demo Mode provides a separate session using the same upgrade steps as a real attempt.
